Brussels sprouts
Brassica oleracea - Family Cruciferae Brussels sprouts are a hardy winter vegetable grown for their swollen buds. Sow mid March - mid April, ideally in an indoor seed bed or modular trays. Plant out from mid May to early June at 60cm - 90cm apart. The wider the distance, the larger the individual buds. It is important to plant in firm ground which has not been heavily manured recently as too much nitrogen causes the sprouts to open.Download the full course and seed catalogue (6 Meg Adobe Acrobat file)
