International Biodiversity Day Sunday 21st May 2017

Biodiversity explained is our focus, from the diversity of seeds to plants to wildlife through displays and talks and walks.

The focus on our Biodiversity Day this 2016 was the “Notice Nature” measure for the Tidy Towns competition. As part of the presentations by staff of The Organic Centre we did highlight and explore the beneficial connections between Tidy Towns committees and community garden and transition town groups as theses groups are practising Biodiversity by definition of organic gardening practises inviting for example wild life into their gardens for pollination purposes. Community gardens and schools gardens together with transition town groups provide wildlife corridors in towns and cities but are often disconnected to the Tidy Towns Initiatives. That was the reason for us to concentrate at this years Biodiversity Day on ways to help making the connection and show practical ways of bringing Biodiversity into towns and cities.
