• Seed Saving Workshop  Saturday 9th September 2017 - with Wayne Frankham -

Wayne will cover the basics of saving seed from vegetables and flowers. In practical demonstrations you will learn about harvesting, processing, drying and storage of your favourite crop. Seed saving has many benefits: It saves money, allows you to adapt plants to the micro climate in your own garden and gives you independence from seed companies. Participants will take home samples of saved seeds.

The day will cover the following : seed versus cuttings, basic flower anatomy, reasons, issues and solutions around seed saving, recommendations for all levels of experience regards self pollination, cross pollination and biennials, plant population recommended for gardens and farms, demonstration on threshing, winnowing, sieving, cleaning, drying and storage.
