From March 2020 to March 2021 the Organic Centre is delighted to announce that it will have two European Solidarity Corps positions available in Rossinver, Co. Leitrim. The European Solidarity Corps (previously known as EVS) is the new European Union initiative which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit communities and people around Europe.
The Organic Centre will be running a project that will host two Europeans in Rossinver for 12 months. This project, entitled Future Food Sovereignty, aims to popularise organic growing and sustainable living through the creation of accessible and informative digital content. An online hub of resources will be created and curated by the volunteers that can easily connect with the public and help mobilise them into action in the face of growing climate change. The project hopes to create a complete set of companion videos, photos and notes that the public can use to facilitate their own domestic growing throughout an entire calendar year, as well as tips on how to lead more sustainable lives.
Volunteers will spend a year in the garden documenting the growing season. Media will be edited and uploaded online to The Organic Centre website to act as a public database and resource. Advocacy campaigns will be initiated by the volunteers to further mobilise the public into actions around the themes of self-sufficiency, food sovereignty and sustainable living. The volunteers will develop partnerships with other advocacy organisation locally and internationally to share knowledge and expertise.
This project is fully funded, meaning both volunteers will have their travel, accommodation and food costs covered, with an additional monthly stipend given to cover extra costs.
Two European volunteers, aged between 18 and 30, with an interest in the environment and sustainability will be recruited for this project. If you’re interested in participating in this project, then get in touch with us at email@example.com.
