We have over 15 years experience of working with primary and secondary schools from both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
We are a member of SEED (Schools Earth Education Development – (http://schoolearthed.ie/) which involves collaboration between the Organic Centre and 5 other NGOs to promote organic gardening as an outdoor classroom, curriculum based activity in primary schools.
Through SEED we are pleased to offer the following services for schools:
In addition to the above, we also run a range of free workshops for schools in partnership with:
DPSM (Discover Primary Science and Maths) Centre. The Organic Centre is a nationally certified centre for schools to visit and take part in environmental activities that relate back to the school curriculum areas of science and maths.
See Click Here for further details.
Heritage in Schools Programme. The Heritage in Schools scheme makes available to primary schools a panel of 165 Heritage Experts who will visit primary schools to work directly with the pupils. You can search for an expert by county and your area of interest. The visit by the heritage expert is part-funded by the school and the remaining costs are funded by the Heritage Council. See http://www.heritageinschools.ie/about-heritage-in-schools/about-heritage-in-schools/ for more information.
SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland). The Organic Centre is a registered centre for the provision of workshops for primary school age children (and occasionally secondary school age) in relation to science based experimentation and discussion of renewable energy forms and energy conservation. See http://globalactionplan.ie/in-school/sei-energy-workshops/ for further information.
