The Organic Centre Community Garden is a hands-on experience. Joining the group will help you to grow your own vegetables using organic methods, supported by one of our expert team at the Organic Centre. The Community garden group takes part Wednesday mornings at the site in Rossinver, and for a small membership fee of only 2 euro each week. We have lowered our price post covid and in response to the cost of living crisis. We believe that growing skills should be accessible for everyone.

You will receive loads of information, support and expert tuition from our gardening team.

Members grow a range of crops throughout the growing season and have access to both indoor and outdoor growing spaces. Weekly sessions focus on the everyday tasks that all gardeners face when growing from seed to harvest. The group is made up of people from all walks of life and members have a broad range of gardening experience; you don't have to be an expert to join and everyone is everybody is welcome. Its a great opportunity to meet new people or set a date with friends.

The group brings like-minded people together to work with nature, learning organic horticulture, better still, members get to take all the produce they have grown throughout the year home with them.

Members enjoy workshops on sowing seeds, soil care, taking cuttings, compost making and organic pest and disease control. The group meets from 10am – 1 pm each Wednesday and runs from March to October each year.  Download and fill out the application and return to info@theorganiccentre.ie  or post to us C/o The Organic Centre, Sraud, Rossinver, Co Leitrim. The places are on a first come first served basis.

Community Garden Testimonials

"My experience from being involved in the community garden has been a very positive one. I have learned so much about sowing seeds and the methods involved for a good harvest. I have learned a lot about disease and good hygiene to keep healthy plants. I have tried foods that I wouldn't have normally tried and it has been nice to work with lovely people".[/quote]

“Being a member of the community garden team at The Organic Centre is a wonderful experience as it allows you to get your hands in the soil. Together we learn where good food comes from.... This week we have grown potatoes and learnt about tree-grafting. We finished by harvesting some apples from the orchard. There’s always time for a cup of tea and a chat and I’ve met interesting people from around the world. In fact it’s becoming a real highlight of my week.”
