Beetroot, Beta vulgaris, is easy to grow and makes the perfect crop for 'beginner' gardeners.

Bull's Blood are globe-shaped, and blood red in colour.  The leaves are a beautiful deep reddish-purple, sweet and tender and a very popular addition to salads. Used in much the same way as spinach.

Also popular as an ornamental bordering plant due to the colour of the leaves.
