For nearly 30 years, The Organic Centre in Rossinver, Co. Leitrim has been a pioneering charity and social enterprise dedicated to organic gardening, community education and sustainable living. Our mission is “to promote and support organic growing and sustainable living,” and our vision is “to work with people and nature for a more sustainable planet.”
Working alongside schools, learners, volunteers and partners, we run accredited training, weekend workshops, demonstration gardens and outreach programmes that support climate action, food sovereignty and social inclusion. From supporting local employment to promoting biodiversity, The Organic Centre plays a vital role in shaping a sustainable and resilient rural community.
We are now seeking new voluntary Board members to help lead The Organic Centre into its next chapter, supporting our strategic priorities through strong governance, community connection, and shared vision.

We’re Looking for Board Members With Experience in One or More of the Following Areas:
Finance We’re seeking someone with strong financial acumen who can help guide budgeting, reporting and financial sustainability. Experience in financial oversight, accounting, grant management or nonprofit finance would be particularly valuable.
Social Enterprise or Charity Governance We welcome applicants familiar with the responsibilities of directors under the Charities Regulator, or those who have worked in the governance of nonprofit organisations or community groups. Experience with compliance, risk management, or strategic development in a nonprofit or social enterprise context is ideal.
Local Knowledge or Community Roots We’re keen to have Board members who are embedded in the local area – residents of North Leitrim or surrounding counties who understand local issues, networks, and priorities. Familiarity with rural community life, farming, education or development work would be very welcome.
Business or Entrepreneurship Experience If you’ve run a small business, especially in the areas of food, farming, hospitality, or education, your perspective could bring real value to our strategic planning and operational growth. Knowledge of funding, staffing, marketing or business planning in a rural context is especially useful.
Retail and Trading Operations Our on-site and online shop are key to our income generation and engagement strategy. Experience in retail (especially sustainable or ethical retail), supply chain management, e-commerce, merchandising, or improving customer experience would be a major asset.
