Discovering Organic No Dig Practices
Charles Dowding has revolutionised the method of growing organically with his 'No Dig' approach. This technique prioritises sustainability and promotes nutrient-rich soil. Learn how No Dig gardening allows you to work with nature and the soil, leading to stronger plants and large yields, and with less effort. Experience the advantages of soil thats less disturbed, of soil that naturally enables drainage, warmth, moisture retention, and now more than ever, a soil that promotes carbon sequestration.
Programme for the Day Course
Morning Session: Introduction to No Dig
10:00 AM:
Introduction to No Dig: Discover the advantages of the No Dig method, including time and effort, savings, improved soil, and health. Charles will guide you through the process with a presentation from his own garden, covering various topics such as tackling perennial weeds, using cardboard and black plastic, and effective composting techniques. Explore seasonal strategies, from harvesting winter vegetables to seed saving, and tap into different energies through copper tools, biodynamics, and more.
Midday: Delicious nutritious lunch
From farm to form in a matter of metres. Enjoy a delicious two-course vegan lunch with produce sourced from the gardens of the Organic Centre. Served with Tea and coffee.
Afternoon Session:
Creating a No Dig Bed: Join Charles hands on, as he works with you to make a plot of No Dig beds, using a range of compost types.
Making Compost:Participate in constructing a new compost heap with provided materials.
Questions and Answers with Charles
Engage with Charles Dowding in an open Q&A session for any of your gardening queries.
Book signings with Charles: Get a chance to grab Charles for a book signing. Books will be also available to buy at the shop on the two days.

The Organic Centre has been a pioneer in organic horticulture since 1995. Explore the 19 acre site. Enjoy the new walking trail to the spectacular waterfalls that is Fowleys Falls. Stay and explore the charms of rural Leitrim for the weekend.
